Alan Brazil thinks Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal should have signed Brentford striker Ivan Toney ‘three months ago’.
The 27-year-old is currently serving a ban, which started in May and will end in July, so you would imagine that he would have probably been sold in the summer had he not been in that situation.
But Alan Brazil stated that if he was someone like Arsenal, then he would have still pushed to sign Ivan Toney for ‘£60 million’, as he told talkSPORT Breakfast (20/09/23 at 6:30 am).
Arsenal have plenty of goals in their locker, thanks to Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Jesus.
But, at the end of the day, they are up against the trophy-winning machine that is Manchester City, who have two elite players for each spot.
And you would imagine that if Ivan Toney was an Arsenal player, then he would seriously enhance their forward line even further, as well as their chances of winning silverware.
Ivan Toney to Arsenal
“I would have bought him three months ago, £60 million,” said Brazil, as he reacted to Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea showing interest in the striker.
“They (Brentford) are a good side and they are hard to beat, but they aren’t one of the top sides, so you would imagine he would get a few more goals if he played for a top side.”
Toney would thrive at Arsenal
Back in September 2022, Andros Townsend stated that Ivan Toney is a player who has ‘everything’ in his locker.
He proved that by scoring 20 goals in 33 games for a Brentford side that has one of the lowest budgets in the league.
So, imagine the England international in Arsenal colours, a more dominant side, and one pushing for trophies, to put it simply, he would thrive.
