Thierry Henry has stated that Gabriel Jesus is ‘back’ after he scored during Arsenal’s 4-0 win over PSV in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
The legendary Arsenal striker added that he is ‘so happy’ for the Brazil international, after he had to overcome yet another injury issue this summer.
This was Gabriel Jesus’ first start of the new season and he told Thierry Henry that he has found it ‘so hard’ watching on from the sidelines, as he told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (20/09/23 at 10:15 pm).
But the 26-year-old is back on the pitch now and eager to push this ever-improving Mikel Arteta side towards the Premier League title.
On Sunday, it’s the small matter of Arsenal and Tottenham, who are both unbeaten, locking horns in the north London derby.
You would think, with Jesus boosting his fitness even further against PSV, that he will start against Spurs.
What Jesus told Thierry Henry
Henry at HT on Jesus: “Gabriel Jesus, well done, so happy for him. He is back.”
Henry after FT, whilst speaking to Jesus: “First of all, congratulations Gabi, I am very happy to see you scoring goals and being back on the field.
“Can you explain to people how difficult it is to be injured and watching your team play, and if you fast forward now, scoring that goal, especially the one I love is the one against Manchester United when you put the defender down. Can you explain the process of you coming back from that injury?”
Jesus responded: “It was a good warm-up (on Man United goal). It’s so hard. You guys play the game. I had some injuries in my career and then bad times, always. But I try to be strong in my mind and to come back as quickly as possible and stronger. It’s not easy to watch. You want to play all the time.
“You have to go for the challenge. That is the football player’s life. It’s good to score goals. I love to score goals. I try.”
Gabriel Jesus an underrated player
A player that is disrespected for not scoring a higher volume of goals, Jesus is a very valuable asset to this Arsenal team and his fitness could play a big part in what trophies land on the club’s doorstep this season.
The £45 million star (Sky Sports) won the lot at Manchester City, but he hasn’t been able to deliver a full season for Arsenal fans.
If he can do that, then he will prove that he can be a big difference-maker in the team pushing themselves over that Premier League title line.
