Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice has raved about Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni, a player Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool wanted to sign in the summer transfer window.
Declan Rice, who joined Arsenal from London and Premier League rivals West Ham United, has said that Aurelien Tchouameni, a player Liverpool reportedly bid for, is “aggressive” and is always looking to go forward despite being a defensive midfielder by trade.
Liverpool tried to sign Aurelien Tchouameni from Real Madrid
In June, Defensa Central reported that Madrid had turned down an offer of €60 million (£51.57 million) from Liverpool for the youngster.
Chelsea also reportedly tried to sign Tchouameni, but the Frenchman stayed at Madrid.
Interestingly, Arsenal were linked with the 23-year-old as well.
The youngster did not always play regularly for Madrid last season.
There were injury issues as well.
However, Tchouameni is now a regular in Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti’s first team.
The Madrid no. 18 has made four appearances in La Liga so far this season.
Declan Rice praise for Aurelien Tchouameni
Rice said about Tchouameni on Channel 4, as transcribed by TBR: “You know, Tchouameni at Real Madrid.
“He’s a youngster as well. He’s aggressive, he gets on the ball, he goes forward with it. He’s very good.”
Declan Rice is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.
The Arsenal and England international midfielder publicly praising Aurelien Tchouameni and outlining the attributes in his game shows just what fellow professionals think of the Frenchman.
There is no doubt whatsoever that Tchouameni would have been a brilliant signing for Liverpool.
After all, Madrid do not tend to sign players who are not already top-quality or will not become so in the future.
Tchouameni is only 23 now, and there is every chance that he could develop into a world-class player in the coming years.
Liverpool could only be able to watch Tchouameni’s progress from afar.
Madrid are aiming to win the La Liga title as well as the UEFA Champions League this season.
As for Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp’s side will be determined to win the Premier League title this campaign.
