Paul Merson has backed Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus to make an impact for Mikel Arteta’s side against Sean Dyche’s Everton this coming weekend.
Everton will take on Arsenal at Goodison Park in the Premier League this weekend, and Gabriel Jesus could feature.
The Brazil international striker has had injury problems in the opening weeks of the new season, but the £265,000-a-week (Spotrac) star is fully fit now.
The 26-year-old has made two substitute appearances in the Premier League for Arsenal so far this season.
In those 15 minutes, Jesus has scored one goal.
Gabriel Jesus backed to make an impact for Arsenal
Former Arsenal star and Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson believes that Jesus being back to full fitness is a massive boost for the Gunners.
Mikel Arteta’s side will be in UEFA Champions League action next week and will face Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby on September 24.
While predicting a 2-0 win for Arsenal against Everton, Merson wrote in SportsKeeda: “Arsenal have had their fair share of problems in recent weeks, but Gabriel Jesus’ return to full fitness is a massive boost.
“With UEFA Champions League football on the horizon, they’ll need timely contributions from everyone in the squad to compete on all fronts.”
Gabriel Jesus a big player for Arsenal
Arsenal have done well in the opening weeks of the new season without Gabriel Jesus starting.
Just imagine how good Arsenal would be when Jesus is starting on a regular basis and is at his best.
While the 26-year-old is not one of the most prolific strikers in the world, he is a very mobile forward who takes up very good positions, brings others into pace, has pace, can dribble past opposition players, and is perfect for the intricate attacking plays of Arsenal.
Arsenal are aiming to win the Premier League title this season and will also look to make a big impact in the UEFA Champions League.
Jesus has made 187 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
The striker has scored 70 goals and given 35 assists in those games.
