Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United have reportedly taken a stance over Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney.
According to The Telegraph, Newcastle United want to sign Kieran Tierney from Premier League rivals Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
The report has claimed that Newcastle admire the 26-year-old former Celtic left-back.
However, the Magpies will not pay £30 million for the Scotland international.
Newcastle want to make sure that they do not fall foul of FFP rules, so they are going to be careful how much they spend on new players in the summer of 2023, according to the report.
Could Newcastle United sign Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney for less than £30 million?
In our view, if Newcastle United do not pay £30 million for Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney, then they are unlikely to be able to sign him in the summer transfer window.
It is hard to see the Gunners sell the Scotland international for anything less than £30 million.
After all, Arsenal paid Celtic £25 million to sign Tierney in the summer of 2019 (Sky Sports).
True, Tierney has had injury problems during his time at the Gunners so far, but his best years are ahead of him and he is still a very good player.
And it is not as if Arsenal are desperate to offload Tierney.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta could as well keep the left-back in his squad for next season.
