Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are expected to fight it out for Ivan Toney but Brentford are willing to wait until next summer.
Brentford could refuse to sell Ivan Toney in January unless somebody offers £60million for their prized striker.
That is according to The Mirror, who claim that the auction for Toney’s signature has ‘effectively begun’ already.
Toney can’t play until January having been hit with a ban for gambling, but he has returned to training with the Bees.
Toney will have just 18 months left on his contract come January and Premier League clubs are expected to make moves.
London battle for Ivan Toney on the cards
It’s stated that three London clubs – Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur – are all in the race to sign Toney.
Brentford will only deal on their terms though; they want £60million for Toney or else they will happily wait until the summer.
The report adds that Toney is ‘clearly in the mood to leave Brentford’ having joined the CAA Stellar Group agency.
It’s even claimed that Arsenal would ‘almost certainly have made a move to sign Toney had he not been hit with that suspension.
Toney is claimed to have real admirers inside the Emirates Stadium and the Gunners could launch a move for the 27-year-old.
Toney may love Arsenal move
Chelsea are desperate for a proven goalscorer whilst Tottenham fancy adding Toney having sold Harry Kane to Bayern Munich.
Toney’s all-round game as a centre forward will make him very appealing to many clubs but he may well fancy Arsenal.
Speaking on The Diary of A CEO in August, Toney admitted that whilst he is a Liverpool fan, he also loves Arsenal.
Toney praised the Arsenal fanbase for their passion and loves how the Gunners have played football over the years.
“From young, I’ve liked Arsenal,” said Toney. “I’ve liked watching Arsenal, how they play and how passionate the fans are, but I’m a Liverpool boy at heart,” he added.
That may well make Arsenal the favourites for Toney’s signature, but whether they will pay £60million for him in January remains to be seen.
