Chelsea are now ready to rekindle their interest in Arsenal target Moises Caicedo having missed out on Manuel Ugarte.
Moises Caicedo is now emerging as a Chelsea target once again with Manuel Ugarte seemingly heading for Paris Saint-Germain.
That is according to The Guardian, who report that Chelsea are now expected to move for Brighton and Hove Albion star Caicedo.
It’s stated that Chelsea have pulled out of the race to sign Sporting midfielder Ugarte.
The Uruguayan was a prime target for Chelsea but the Blues are unwilling to match the money PSG are offering.
That means Chelsea must look elsewhere and Caicedo is one name on their wish list.
TalkSPORT note that new boss Mauricio Pochettino is a ‘big admirer’ of Caicedo and would like to snap him up.
It’s hard to imagine Caicedo being any cheaper than Ugarte though, so this could still be a tricky pursuit for Chelsea.
Arsenal are desperate to sign Moises Caicedo
Chelsea returning to the Caicedo race will be a cause for concern at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal have been chasing Caicedo throughout 2023 and missed out on the Brighton star in January.
That pursuit isn’t thought to be over as Football Transfers claim that Arsenal have agreed personal terms with Caicedo.
That report also claims that Brighton do expect Arsenal to meet their £75million asking price for Caicedo this summer.
That’s all well and good but Chelsea are now back involved again – and that will spark flashbacks to January.
Arsenal were pushing to land winger Mykhailo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk having chased him for months – sounds familiar, doesn’t it?
Chelsea were able to swoop in and pull off an expensive deal though, leaving Arsenal stunned.
The Blues may now hope for a repeat by targeting Caicedo, who has been hailed as an ‘excellent holding player’ by Bryan Robson and may ultimately be seen as the heir to N’Golo Kante at Stamford Bridge.
