Harry Redknapp has lauded the signing of James Maddison ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s north London derby showdown against Arsenal.
The former Tottenham boss thinks that James Maddison, for the price he has been purchased for, has been a top capture for Ange Postecoglou’s side.
Both Arsenal and Spurs go into the weekend fixture unbeaten in the Premier League, with Mikel Arteta’s side having the small matter of dealing with their Champions League tie against PSV before that – Thierry Henry has shared his thoughts.
Either way, Redknapp thinks Spurs can ‘get something from the game’, as he told talkSPORT Breakfast (20/09/23 at 8:15 am).
You would think that, if Postecoglou is to guide his team to a win, then he needs Maddison on song following his £40 million transfer (Sky Sports) in the summer.
The 26-year-old has two goals and two assists to his name, including helping his side score in the 98th and 100th minute to beat Sheffield United over the weekend.
Arsenal v Tottenham
“It will be a good game, at the weekend,” said Redknapp. “Both teams are in good form. Tottenham have done well.
“Maddison, what a signing for that money. What a good player. A fantastic talent. Tottenham are looking strong.
“So, I think they will go to Arsenal on Sunday and feel they can get something from the game. It’s going to be a great London derby between two good teams.”
James Maddison – one of the signings of the summer
Before a ball was kicked, many were talking about this Maddison signing being one of the best and exactly what Spurs have been crying out for.
And the England international hasn’t let anyone down because he has produced every bit of magic fans were hoping he would showcase.
But, whilst all of that is good, you still have to deliver in these big, big games, or else, those early performances will be forgotten about.
