Paul Merson has warned Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool about the way they should play against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
The Sky Sports pundit has said that Liverpool will have to step up their game when they take on Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium and lock horns with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League this season.
Liverpool struggled in first half vs Wolverhampton Wanderers
The former Arsenal star was not impressed at all by the way Liverpool played in the first half against Wolverhampton Wanderers this past weekend.
The Reds conceded an early goal against Wolves away from home and were dire in the opening 45 minutes.
Liverpool, though, did step up their game in the second half and picked up all three points from the Premier League match after scoring three goals.
The Merseyside club are aiming to beat Manchester City and Arsenal to the Premier League title this season.
Liverpool are third in the Premier League table at the moment with 13 points from five matches, two points behind leaders and defending champions City and are level on points with Arsenal in fifth.
The Reds will face Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in the league in February 2024.
Liverpool will lock horns with City at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League in November 2023.
Liverpool warned about Arsenal
Merson told Sky Sports: “Liverpool were poor against Wolves first half, really poor.
“But they came out in the second half and blew Wolves away.
“The problem is you can’t be doing that against the better teams.
“You don’t want to be going to the Emirates or the Etihad and playing like that, the game would be all over in the first half.”
